DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:The Mechanical – Biological Treatment Project will serve the entire population of the prefecture of Ilia with a capacity of 80,000 tn per year. The materials entering the solid waste treatment plant will be:
 Municipal Solid Waste
 Pre-Chosen Organic Material of the Municipal Solid Waste through a screening program at the source

The products recovered – produced from the processing of the above Treatment Plant will be:
 ferrous metals and aluminum
 recyclable materials (paper, plastic and glass)
 Compost
 Electricity from biogas and
 Solid Residues from the production process, not further utilisable (estimated at 35% of the capacity of the plant and will be led to the sanitary landfill)
